The Gate Youth Art Group
In 2010 we developed a new programme in partnership with the local police and Voluntary Action Cardiff to work with young people aged 6-12 primarily from the Czech Roma community. At present we are running a weekly club for these young people with occasional one-off specials. It is a relational youth group through the medium of arts and is led by a group of volunteers. We want to give these young people a sense of worth and help integration with other members of the community. We also want to help prevent future offending. Some of the volunteers are professional artists and experience detached youth workers.  We are currently expanding the group.

New Developments for 2011
We’re also looking at starting a new group aimed at older members of the same community who currently congregate just off City Road. The group will probably be music-based and again is a partnership between the local police, street based team of the council, Voluntary Action Cardiff/Communities First and ourselves.
