madeinroath Open: Sat 14, 6pm – 8pm, then Sun 15 – Sun 22 Oct
Exhibition Group exhibition of artwork made by mostly Wales based artists Exhibition Preview & Festival Launch Night
Open call exhibition, with no restrictions according to age, ability or experience. This open call approach is a deliberate strategy to present the work of practicing, ‘amateur’ and early career artists in a gallery setting.
Wonderbrass turns 25
A night of live music, dancing and celebration: 8pm – 11pm
25th anniversary celebration of the biggest, boldest, brassiest band in Cardiff! Wonderbrass kick off their Heritage Lottery Funded collaborative music project with a bang this October at madeinroath. Join us for a New Orleans style party like you’ve never seen before!

Cardiff Vineyard Church will be hosting an indoor picnic at The Gate complete with games, activities and lots of fun for all ages. Bring your own lunch.

Whether you’re a novice or have performed before, why not join Page to Stage Wales as we explore stories of kindness through games, improvisations, and scenes? From Paint to Page: An Ekphrastic Writing Group: 7:45pm – 9:30pm
This regular monthly group provides an opportunity to try ‘ekphrastic’ writing (creative writing in response to visual art) using work displayed on the walls of The Gate as inspiration. This month we’ll be looking at the artwork displayed as part of the madeinroath Open Exhibition.
Cardiff Philosophy Cafe – What is Community?: 8 – 10pm
Everyone talks about community and everyone seems to want to be part of it. But what is it, really – and do we really want it? Join us at a special madeinroath Cardiff Philosophy Cafe to explore the history and future of this much used and much abused idea.

Join us for an evening of Prose & Poems at The Gate! The evening will kick off with featured readings from Lloyd Markham and Zillah Bowes, followed by an open mic. Sign up on the night!

The Roath Hop An Evening of Rock ‘n’ Roll Dancing with Valley Jive. Gwynfor and the crew from Valley Jive: 7pm, workshop for all ages/abilities. Please arrive at 6.45pm.
8:15pm, Dance Demonstration by the Valley Jive dancers.
8:30pm – 11:30pm, Rock ‘n’ Roll Dancing for all.
Come and experience the deep joy of jiving with Gwynfor and the crew from Valley Jive.Valley Jive is a group of dancers based in Caerphilly who are committed to spreading the joy of jiving. Great dancing including 50s Rock n Roll Standards, Jive, Bop, Swing, Lindy Hop, Rockabilly, Walk/Stroll.

Food 4 thought ~ You can help: 11:00am-2:00pm (drop-in)
Bring a tin of any healthy food to donate to a local food bank and create a mini collage artwork inside recycled canned-fish tins, to highlight both the plight of people in poverty who have to use food banks, and the importance of healthy eating for well-being.
