I would like to perform at The Gate how do I go about booking a date?
As we get a high number of enquiries to perform at The Gate we ask that a proposal form is filled in and emailed to our bookings team. With that information, we are then able to consider your performance and where it may fit into our schedule. There is a limited amount of performance slots available in each term. We try and programme a balance of professional and amateur performances across different genres so that we can bring a varied and interesting programme to our community.
In which space can I hold my performance or class?
We programme events in the space most suitable for the event. For our main theatre we only programme events that we consider to reach an audience of over 200. For smaller performances, we advise our café bar is ideal. This can hold up to about 70 for a small gig or theatre performance.
The Loft is our creative space and can hold up to 25, perfect for small community groups, classes and meetings.
The large studio holds most of our more active classes and is ideal for dance, rehearsals, etc.
What happens next after I submit my proposal form?
Our bookings team meet regularly to consider all proposals carefully, taking into consideration all information submitted. We aim to get back within 10 workings days if successful and arrange a meeting to discuss options further.
If I am successful what do I have to do next?
We will arrange to meet you and discuss your requirements and confirm costs. A contract will then need to be signed by both parties and a 25% deposit paid to secure your booking.
When can I start marketing my event?
Once your contract has been agreed and deposit paid you can then start marketing your event. We advise you don’t advertise before an agreement is made as your booking is not confirmed before then and may not go ahead. The Gate is happy to discuss with you how we can best support you in marketing your event.
How do I sell tickets for my event?
We are able to sell tickets for your event through our box office, website and online platforms. If any tickets are to be sold through any other channel this must be agreed within your contract.
What tech support is provided?
As part of discussing requirements, our technical staff will advise on what set up is needed and what equipment belonging to The Gate can be used. A sound engineer and lighting technician may be needed which will be decided by our technical manager and charged accordingly. At least one technician from The Gate must be present for the set up and running of your event.
